Trivimint

Science

A blank periodic table to fill in. Each square shows an atomic number and nothing else, and you type the element that belongs there.

Six tables, two ways to answer

Elements on the Table splits the chart into the parts people learn one at a time: the first 20, the first 36, the eight main groups, the transition metals, and the lanthanides and actinides in the two rows underneath. All 118 is the whole chart at once. You can answer with names, where small typos in praseodymium are forgiven, or with symbols, where the letters have to be exact.

The symbols are where most points go. Eleven of them come from another name altogether: Fe from the Latin ferrum, Pb from plumbum, W from the German wolfram. The page under the game explains where every name with a story comes from, from the four elements named after one Swedish village to the two named after people who were still alive.
